Methodology

How we rank. Evidence for the job. Value for the buyer.

We compare evidence-backed value for a specific job, using adoption, customer satisfaction, value for money and popularity. A score describes the evidence available for that comparison; it is not a promise of performance or savings.

  1. Define the comparison

We first match each product to the tasks it supports and the audience or industry it serves. A cross-industry comparison covers the same job across sectors; it does not establish suitability for every sector.

  2. Connect evidence to the product

We attribute source material to the relevant product, task and audience, then identify evidence of adoption, customer satisfaction, value for money and popularity. Each claim keeps a link to its original source and supporting passage.

  3. Build the evidence score

We check source references and scope, account for repeated evidence, and combine the supported signals across the four pillars. Missing information stays unknown. Evidence for one product or use case does not automatically transfer to another.

  4. Compare, explain and update

Products with evidence for the scoring pillars appear first. A product can also qualify through documentation that demonstrates the workflow or describes a specific feature for this task. We show comparisons when at least three products qualify and link to the evidence for each.

Four pillars, one evidence score

  • Adoption

Who uses the product, and how widely it is used for this task.

  • Customer satisfaction

How customers feel about the results and experience of using the product.

  • Value for money

Whether the benefits justify the cost for this job.

  • Popularity

How much attention and interest the product attracts.

Where the evidence comes from

We draw on public product information, external sources such as Trustpilot and other customer reviews, and evidence companies submit to SOTA2—including customer stories, outcomes and pricing updates. A submission is considered under the same source and scope checks; submitting it does not guarantee a higher score.

Follow the evidence

Open a product’s evidence to see the source, the quoted passage and the pillar it supports. Company-reported material is identified as such. Third-party reviews are kept distinct from a vendor’s selected testimonials; several copies of a story are not several customer outcomes.

  • No company can pay for a place.
  • Missing evidence is unknown, not a negative review.
  • Submissions are assessed, not automatically accepted.
