Methodology

How we rank. Each ranking compares products that do the same job for the same audience, and scores them out of 100 on public evidence.

  1. Pick one job and one audience

A ranking compares products that do the same task, such as answering phone calls, for businesses, consumers or AI agents. Business rankings can narrow to one industry.

  2. Find every product that does it

We track AI products as they launch and map each one to the tasks it performs, using the company's documentation and independent sources.

  3. Score the public evidence

Each product earns up to 100 points across five criteria. We cite what we use, and anything we cannot verify is marked unknown.

  4. Publish, then keep it current

A market gets numbered positions once enough independent companies compete in it. We rescore when pricing, customers or capabilities change.

What the ring color means

  • 85 to 100

Direct evidence for the task, real adoption and clear pricing.

  • 75 to 84

Fits the task well; one or two signals are vendor-reported.

  • 65 to 74

Relevant, but adoption or pricing evidence is partial.

  • Below 65

Little public evidence yet. Not a judgment of quality.

  • No company can pay for a place in a ranking.
  • Missing evidence is marked unknown, never guessed.
