Proofpoint conducted a study assessing the adoption of Domain-based Message Authentication, Reporting and Conformance (DMARC) protocols among 2025 Fortune 100 India companies, including Reliance Industries, TCS, Wipro, and the State Bank of India. The research found that 41% of surveyed leading Indian companies remain vulnerable to email impersonation and phishing attacks due to insufficient implementation of these email security standards.
Proofpoint analyzed the email security posture of 78 financial institutions listed on the Australian Prudential Regulation Authority's (APRA) ADI register. The analysis revealed that nearly 60% of Australian banks do not enforce the strictest DMARC 'reject' policy, leaving them and their customers potentially vulnerable to AI-enhanced email fraud and impersonation. While adoption of the 'reject' standard has increased from 22% in 2023 to 41% in 2026, 18% of institutions still lack a DMARC record.
