GitHub has integrated Anthropic’s Claude Opus 5 model into GitHub Copilot. The model is specifically designed for complex, long-running coding tasks that require advanced reasoning and multi-step execution. Users can access this model across various interfaces including Visual Studio Code, Visual Studio, Copilot CLI, GitHub Mobile, and on the GitHub website. Copilot Business and Enterprise administrators must manually enable the policy to grant access to their organizations. The model is available for Copilot Pro+, Max, Business, and Enterprise plan users.
GitHub has released a new mobile workflow that allows users to address failing GitHub Actions checks directly via the GitHub Mobile app. By selecting the 'Fix with Copilot' option on a failed check, the Copilot coding agent analyzes the failure and creates a new, separate pull request to implement a fix. Once the code is ready, the user is tagged for review to inspect and merge the proposed changes. This functionality is now live on the latest production builds for iOS and Android.
GitHub announced the general availability of the Copilot cloud agent for Linear. This integration allows users to assign Linear issues directly to the Copilot agent, which then autonomously analyzes the issue, creates a draft pull request, and provides progress updates within the Linear activity timeline. Users have granular control over agent operations, including model selection, custom agent assignment, and branch management. The feature is available to users with GitHub Copilot Pro, Pro+, Business, and Enterprise subscriptions via the GitHub Marketplace.
