GitHub Copilot adds Anthropic Claude Opus 5 support
GitHub Copilot has integrated Anthropic’s Claude Opus 5 model, aimed at handling complex, long-running coding tasks including autonomous code changes and regression verification. The model includes enhanced safeguards for high-harm cyber content. Claude Opus 5 is available to Copilot Pro+, Max, Business, and Enterprise users and is accessible across various platforms including Visual Studio Code, Visual Studio, Copilot CLI, and GitHub Mobile.
GitHub Mobile introduces automated CI fix via Copilot
GitHub Mobile users can now use the Copilot coding agent to investigate and fix failed GitHub Actions checks directly from their mobile devices. Upon selecting 'Fix with Copilot' for a failing check, the agent creates a new pull request, applies a fix, and tags the user for review. This feature is available on the current production builds for iOS and Android.
GitHub has updated its Model Context Protocol (MCP) server to support the upcoming stateless MCP specification ahead of its official July 28, 2026 release. The update removes Redis-based sessions to improve performance, implements HTTP header-based request processing to avoid payload inspection, and upgrades the elicitation implementation via the Go SDK to provide compatibility for both old and new clients.

GitHub Copilot cloud agent now generally available for Linear
GitHub has released a generally available Copilot cloud agent integration for Linear. Users can assign Linear issues to the agent, which then autonomously analyzes content, opens draft pull requests in an ephemeral GitHub Actions-powered environment, and provides progress updates within the Linear interface. Users may configure model selection, custom agents, and branch settings directly from their Linear workspace.
