GitHub has integrated Anthropic's Claude Opus 5 model into GitHub Copilot. The model is optimized for complex, autonomous coding workflows and is now available to Copilot Pro+, Max, Business, and Enterprise users across multiple environments, including VS Code, CLI, and mobile apps. Administrators must enable the specific policy within Copilot settings to grant user access.
GitHub has launched multi-select fields for Projects and Issues in public preview. This update allows users to apply multiple values to a single field, facilitating better organization by enabling items to be categorized by multiple teams, labels, or modules simultaneously. Users can configure this by selecting the multi-select field type when creating or editing project fields.
GitHub introduced a feature to mobile devices allowing users to fix failing GitHub Actions checks using the Copilot coding agent. When a failure occurs on a pull request, users can select 'Fix with Copilot' from within the GitHub Mobile app on iOS or Android. The agent then analyzes the failure, creates a new pull request with the proposed fix, and tags the user for final review to keep development workflows moving remotely.
GitHub updated its MCP Server to support the upcoming stateless MCP (Model Context Protocol) specification, which goes into effect on July 28, 2026. The updates, focused on scalability and simplified connection protocols, include removing Redis-based session storage and avoiding deep packet inspection by utilizing HTTP headers. The implementation uses the official Go SDK to ensure backwards compatibility.
The Copilot cloud agent for Linear is now generally available, allowing users to assign GitHub issues directly to the autonomous agent. The agent analyzes issues, creates draft pull requests, and provides progress updates within the Linear activity timeline. Users can now control agent behavior, such as model selection, branching, and custom agent application, directly from their Linear workspace. Access requires the GitHub Copilot for Linear app.
