An investment idea is the start of a longer process. A portfolio manager still needs to understand the security, compare its value with alternatives, test the assumptions behind the trade and see how it would change current holdings. When that work is spread across research, models and spreadsheets, the investment case has to be pieced together again at each step.
Oasive helps institutional investors move from an investment idea to an investment decision in one place. It connects research, relative value, portfolio construction, trade evaluation, portfolio risk and investment memos so the analysis of a security can carry through to the decision about the portfolio. [4]
Built for institutional investment teams
The platform is built for buy-side institutional investors, particularly portfolio managers, traders and investment analysts at banks, asset managers, insurance companies and hedge funds. Their questions are closely related: an analyst develops the research, a trader examines relative value and a portfolio manager decides whether a proposed position fits the portfolio. Oasive brings those parts of the work together. [4]
Oasive provides bond market intelligence and analytics through distinct offerings. Macro & Rates and the agency mortgage-backed securities (MBS) platform are available today. The municipal bond platform is in development. Within the MBS platform, portfolio construction and trade evaluation are currently in beta. [4]
From the investment desk to Oasive
Founded in 2025 and part of Y Combinator’s Fall 2026 batch, Oasive is led by Anaïs Howland. Her background includes working on MBS portfolios at Wells Fargo and Google Treasury, followed by product strategy across Google’s consumer AI products. That experience informs the company’s focus on connecting investment research with the analysis needed to act on it. [2][3]
Agency MBS: one dataset from collateral to portfolio risk
Oasive’s Agency MBS platform connects collateral analysis, proprietary prepayment modeling, valuation and portfolio risk on one loan-level dataset sourced directly from Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac and Ginnie Mae. An investor can examine the mortgages behind a pool, explore projected prepayments and carry that analysis into security valuation and portfolio risk. [4]
For a portfolio manager, this supports a sequence of decisions: identify attractive pools, compare relative value, test assumptions, evaluate proposed trades against current holdings and document the investment case. The connection matters because a pool’s apparent value and its contribution to a portfolio need to be considered together. Portfolio construction and trade evaluation are in beta within this workflow. [4]
A concrete workflow: from an attractive pool to an investment memo
Consider the workflow Oasive describes for an MBS portfolio manager. The PM identifies a pool that looks attractive relative to the to-be-announced (TBA) market. That relative-value observation becomes the starting point for examining the collateral and the prepayments projected by Oasive’s model. [4]
The PM then tests valuation under different assumptions. Changing the rate or prepayment outlook helps the investor see whether the pool still looks attractive and which assumptions are driving that assessment. Collateral characteristics, projected borrower behavior and valuation remain part of the same analysis. [4]
Using the portfolio construction and trade evaluation tools in beta, the PM can examine how buying the pool would change portfolio duration, convexity and projected prepayment speeds. This connects the security-level investment case with its effect on current holdings: the question becomes both whether the pool offers value and how the proposed trade would change portfolio risk. [4]
In this company-described workflow, research, valuation work and portfolio analysis support portfolio construction and the investment memo. The reasoning behind a trade stays connected to the decision it supports. [4]
Macro & Rates: research and relative value across the Treasury curve
Macro & Rates is a separate research tier for exploring macroeconomic data and releases, Treasury auctions and refunding announcements, with conversational follow-up. An investor can examine a release or market development, then ask further questions without starting a new research process each time. [4]
Proprietary valuation models help users assess what looks rich or cheap across the Treasury curve, including curve trades and butterflies. This gives the desk a way to connect its macro view with relative-value questions across maturities and possible trade structures. The public launch describes this combination of research, valuation models and follow-up exploration. [3][4]
Municipal bonds: credit research and relative value, in development
Oasive’s municipal bond platform is being developed to bring filings, financials, issuer news and other relevant evidence into a credit research workflow, with source citations. The aim is to help an investment analyst form a credit view and monitor it as new information appears. [4]
The planned platform will also include comparable-bond analysis, pricing and curves for portfolio managers and traders assessing relative value. That would connect the analyst’s issuer research with the market context used to assess a bond. Oasive is targeting a launch over the next few weeks; these municipal capabilities are still in development. [4]

What we would look for in a pilot
A focused demonstration could follow one MBS pool from collateral and prepayment analysis through valuation, its proposed effect on current holdings and the investment memo. Confirm which portfolio construction and trade evaluation features are available in beta. For a Macro & Rates subscription, examine the research and valuation tools in that separate tier.
The SOTA2 view
Oasive is relevant to institutional fixed-income teams that need to connect a market view with a security-level analysis and a portfolio decision. Its proposition is the continuity between those steps: research informs relative value, a proposed trade is assessed against current holdings, and the investment case can be documented in a memo. Macro & Rates and Agency MBS are available today, with municipal bonds in development.
